On young stems, the bark varies between purple, red and green with creamy white stripes. In maturity, the bark turns greenish brown with white stripes. The large leaves are dark-green on coral red stems in summer and in autumn turn fiery orange delivering a brilliant seasonal display.
Growing to 5 x 4 metres in 20 years, Acer 'George Forrest' forms a slightly spreading tree with arching branches and a loose attractive canopy. It is content in most soils with good drainage and sunny to partially shaded positions. Cold winds are best avoided.
