Betula utilis jacquemontii 'Snow Queen' Multi Stem Tree
This multi-stem form of Betula utilis jacquemontii 'Snow Queen', also known as Betula 'Doorenbos', showcases its stunning white bark to best-effect. The pure white, peeling bark on this Himalayan Birch creates a striking visual focal point in the garden throughout the year.
In spring, delicate mustard-tinted catkins hang gracefully from its branches . A canopy of airy green foliage in summer transforms to creamy yellow tones in autumn, completing the changing year round appeal of Betula 'Snow Queen'.
Growing to 6 x 5 metres in 20 years, the less vigourous nature of this multi-stem Himalayan Birch makes it suited to smaller gardens, although it still provides plenty of presence in larger gardens. It is robust, tolerating virtually all soils and conditions when positioned in full sun to partial shade.
Unsurprisingly, it is our top selling multi stem Birch, favoured for it's smaller size and the snowy white bark developing earlier than on other white stemmed Birches. We also offer a single stem 'Snow Queen'.
Nigel's Nursery Notes: Betula utilis jacquemontii 'Doorenbos' multi-stem and 'Snow Queen' are the same variety. 'Snow Queen' is the newer British name.
