An apple to rival Bramley! Howgate Wonder is an award-winning apple tree admired for its exceptionally large, red-flushed fruits, which are arguably some of the very largest. Primarily used for cooking, Howgate Wonder apples will hold their shape when baked however they can also be enjoyed fresh as a sweet and tasty snack. Howgate Apples are ready for picking around early October and store very well – they can be kept in storage until around March.
A cross between Blenheim Orange and Newton Wonder varieties, Malus domestica 'Howgate Wonder' has won the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit and is an excellent and reliable option, particularly for northern climates. It originates from the Isle of Wight in 1916.
